The Academy of Nutritional Medicine (AONM) was founded in 2005. Its focus has primarily been on Lyme Disease, ME, mitochondrial dysfunction and the underlying drivers of complex chronic disease. Since its conception AONM has sought to liaise with doctors internationally, embracing their research and inviting them as speakers for regular conferences, and always stressing the need for sound, evidence-based testing.
The AONM clinic is both an independent private sector clinic and a patient referral service.
Our two principal therapists are both experienced in their fields of practice and ensure regular liaison with medical professionals who are versed in integrative medicine, wherever this is needed.
Gilian Crowther Naturopath and Nutritional Therapist (MA Oxon, NT/ND, mBANT, mNNA, CNHC reg) has many years of experience with supporting chronic illness in coordination with specialist medical doctors, and is particularly familiar with a mitochondrial approach – Cell Symbiosis Therapy – that goes to the roots of energy production and cellular recovery. Gilian is also specialised in chronic bacterial and viral infections that often underlie ME/Fibromyalgia as well as Lyme Disease.
Gilian is also uniquely positioned to identify the therapists, doctors and modalities best suited to your condition if she recognises a need for broader-based support or specialist involvement. AONM is thus able to provide an effective patient referral service to affiliated doctors and practitioners.*
Juliet Hayward is an experienced Nutritional Therapist (BA hons, MA, DNN) with almost 20 years’ experience focused on supporting patients with cancer, ME, Lyme Disease and MS. She has worked with Lyme Disease since 2005. She utilises Nutritional Therapy, Naturopathy, diet and lifestyle suggestions to help patients.
Both practitioners undertake a range of testing with TDL (The Doctors Laboratory), Biolab Medical Unit, Genova Diagnostics, ArminLabs and other specialist laboratories in order to finetune protocols to individual requirements.
Both regularly hold seminars on their own specialist fields as well as participating in extensive continuous professional development (details available upon request).
You will receive an intake form to complete prior to your consultation. Please submit as much documentation on your case as you can in advance, so our therapist can review it before seeing you, and please always bring any medications/nutritional supplements that you are taking to your appointment.
Consultation prices, which include review of the documentation you submit as well as an initial report and/or test recommendations (please note that these prices do not include the costs of any tests that may be recommended):
Gilian Crowther: Initial consultation £180 for 1½ hours. £150 per hour thereafter. Pro-rata of that for shorter reviews/telephone follow-ups.
Juliet Hayward: Initial consultation £200 for 1½ hours. £180 per hour thereafter.
Co-referrals with other practitioners and medical doctors within the network are priced separately, and will be agreed as required.
Free-of-charge 15-minute telephone interviews can be arranged to assess whether AONM can provide the support you may need.
*The fees for our extensive advisory/referral service are on a pro-rata basis depending on how long review of your case and liaison takes, but will not exceed the rate for an initial consultation.
